18th Oldest Credit Union Celebrates 75th Anniversary

LINDEN, N.J., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The 18th oldest federally chartered Credit Union in the nation, E53 Federal Credit Union celebrated its 75th Anniversary recently with a grand evening highlighting its past and future.

In honor of the Credit Union's 75th Anniversary, on April 3, 2009, E53 Federal Credit Union held a Diamond Anniversary Celebration themed "Growing through the Ages," which was attended by close to 300 members. The Board of Directors and management team hosted this VIP event at the Palace at Somerset, NJ. Arriving guests admired an ice sculpture of the Credit Union's logo and an array of memorabilia, dated back as far as the early 1930's, creating a nostalgic tone for the evening. Dance Force Entertainment, as well as Work of Art Dance Studio provided entertainment that kept members on their feet with music and dance from the 1930's up to the present.

Representatives of the New Jersey Credit Union League were among guests, who presented the Credit Union with a plaque, congratulating them on 75 years of service. A special award of honor was presented to Jim Patton, the Credit Union's Loan Manager, for his 25 years of service. Additionally, 50% of proceeds collected from guests via a raffle drawing, were donated to the Children's Miracle Network. An evening to remember and a good time was had by all.

"Volunteers and early member pioneers who established this Credit Union would be proud to see us mark this milestone. This achievement establishes the creditability and stability of our growing financial institution," says Michael Greenwood, President/CEO of E53 Federal Credit Union. As we reflect on this milestone, we realize this remarkable accomplishment makes a significant statement about us. In an environment where financial institutions have come and gone through the years, our Credit Union has grown and prospered.

Originally named "Bayway Employees Credit Union," newspaper accounts from 1934 stated that "memberships started pouring in" from the day it opened. That was just the beginning of 75 years of growth. As the 18th oldest federally chartered Credit Union in the nation, E53 Federal Credit Union provides financial services for a membership base of approximately 5,500 members. Leading Fortune 500 companies including ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Infineum and Dupont trust E53 to provide these services for their employees. This $76 million Credit Union is noted for executing a variety of successful promotions such as; a Leap Year-February 29th - 29% certificate of deposit, "Easy Money Sweepstakes", free movie tickets, overnight getaways and special discounts for fun and much more.

E53 is looking forward to an exciting year of growth and many new opportunities, as they continue to provide an array of financial products and services, as well as world-class customer service. We seek to continue to build this organization and deliver another 75 years of strong financial services for both our current and future members.
